The first step is to apply! Register online to describe your amazing and innovative new business idea beginning Wednesday, February 18.


Join the launch party at Yelping Dog Wine on Wednesday, February 18, 5:30pm – 7pm.


Hone your idea with an 8-week Business Planning Class through Staunton Creative Community Fund. Classes will teach you how to write a business plan to not only bring your idea to life, but make it sustainable! Classes will be Wednesday from April 1 through May 20, 6pm – 8:30pm.


Present to the community for 5 minutes at the BRIGHT REWIRED Pitch Night on Thursday, May 21, 6pm at Lewis Creek Market.


Submit your business plans by Wednesday, May 27, 5pm.


Hear from a panel of judges who will evaluate and select the grant recipients. Each presentation will be considered and you’ll receive the honest feedback from community’s response to Pitch Night and the judges’ appraisal.


Attend the BRIGHT REWIRED Awards Ceremony at Mary Baldwin College’s Francis Auditorium on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, 6pm to hear the announcement of the grant recipients.


Receive an SCCF mentor and special services and discounted memberships to assist with your opening. You’ll continue to be supported and counseled through your first year of business. Here’s where the rubber hits the road!

The BRIGHT REWIRED program does not guarantee confidentiality in any way. Do not include confidential material in your submissions. No way exists for BRIGHT REWIRED organizers to enforce a prohibition of other competitors, audience members, or judges who see and hear a pitch of competitor’s materials from sharing the idea and/or materials.
The BRIGHT REWIRED organizers may take photographs and/or video of any materials used or made available by pitching individuals or teams during the competition for public relations purposes. By applying to and/or participating in BRIGHT REWIRED, you authorize the public distribution and use of any photos or videos captured during the classes or competition. You also authorize the publication and distribution of submitted materials such as business descriptions and logos solely for promotional purposes.
The BRIGHT REWIRED Grants and Business Plan Competition are funded and the program supported by a Community Business Launch Grant through the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. BRIGHT REWIRED is administered and implemented by the Staunton Downtown Development Association (SDDA), the Staunton Department of Economic Development (SDED), and the Staunton Creative Community Fund (SCCF). Participants will compete for grants up to $10,000 awarded to new businesses opening in Staunton, VA, before September 30, 2015.
The BRIGHT REWIRED partners make no representation regarding tax consequences of the grants, and grant recipients are responsible for determining their own tax consequences, if any, upon receipt of the grant.
