Join us! SDDA is a volunteer-based organization. Everyone is welcome and there are many volunteer opportunities. Volunteer for a specific project or volunteer to become a member of one of our committees. Committee meeting schedules are on the Google calendar.
- Practitioners, Downtown stakeholders, visionaries and SDDA partners gather to discuss the business climate, opportunities and resources that encourage and support business development, recruitment and retention. Projects: StauntoNites | Ambassador Program
- Designs customer loyalty and buy local advertising campaigns and programming, implements and supports events that put feet on the street and generate customer traffic. Generates positive publicity for Downtown and advertising and social media. Gift Card | Discount Card | Sparkles & Sweets | Christmas Parade | Thumbs UP! and Business Anniversary recognition programs.
- Monitors and advocates for continued streetscape development and maintenance and landscaping of District to promote walkability and experiential quality. Implements flower basket program and upgrades for amenities such as, seasonal banners and decor, kiosks, signs, benches, trash receptacles and the trolley. - We’re all about communication; the weekly e-news to businesses and the community, positive press, social media, website messaging, and bi-monthly merchant gatherings keep the District and community engaged and informed. Organization also covers housekeeping bullets such as the fundraising, membership drive, Board elections, volunteer recognition, annual meeting and report, By-Laws and policies. Being an Ambassador for the SDDA is absolutely fun and a great way to serve the Downtown community, make connections, build lasting relationships and stay in the know.
Ambassadors visit business and help the SDDA stay connected with our hardworking entrepreneurs. We gather every six weeks to reconnect and share ideas about improving Downtown. You’ll meet fellow downtown supports and talented local business owners.
