Downtown Staunton Spreads the Love with Galentine’s Night

Friendship deserves a night out.

Winter may still have its grip on the calendar, but Downtown Staunton is ready to shake off the chill and celebrate friendship, community, and small businesses with Galentine’s Night, a festive, walkable evening hosted by Ovid & Lane – Artisan Bath & Gifting on Friday, February 13.

Galentine’s Night is a city-wide invitation to gather your friends, stroll downtown, and rediscover the joy of shopping local. More than 20 locally owned businesses across Beverley Street, the Wharf, and Central Avenue will extend their hours and offer special experiences.

With exclusive discounts, tastings, pop-ups, and cozy surprises this evening is designed to make the night feel celebratory and connected, just ahead of Valentine’s weekend. “This event is a bit of a love letter to our city, and a way to shake off our collective winter doldrums,” says event organizer Sherrie Brown, owner of Ovid & Lane, whose Beverley Street shop will serve as the unofficial Galentine’s Night HQ for the evening.

This year’s Galentine’s Night also carries deeper meaning. After a challenging January marked by snow, ice, and record-setting cold that significantly impacted foot traffic, the event is an intentional show of support for downtown’s brick-and-mortar businesses.

“The tough stretch of winter weather slowed things down for many shops and restaurants,” Brown shared. “This evening offers a fun, accessible, and affordable way for the community to reconnect with downtown, rediscover favorite spots—or find new ones—and help local businesses regain momentum heading into late winter and early spring.”
